Homemade White Bread

Bread is made from flour, yeast, oil / butter and water.

Ingredients
  • 100gm Strong Bread Flour
  • 40ml Olive Oil
  • 350gm Plain Flour
  • 7gm Yeast
  • 15gm Butter
  • 7gm Salt
  • 7gm Sugar
  • 20gm Improver
  • 225ml Water
Step No 1

Place all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

Using a mixer with a dough hook mix together on low speed until combined. 

Step No 2

Continue kneading with the dough hook on high speed for 6 to 12 minutes until dough is elastic and smooth.

Step No 3

To prove, cover with a greaseproof paper and a damp tea towel.

Step No 4

Set aside for 1½ hours in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size.

Step No 5

Tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface and stretch.

Then shape the dough. 

Step No 6

Transfer into a greased loaf tin. 

Step No 7

Cover the tin with a greaseproof paper.

Step No 8

Set aside to prove for 30 to 45 minutes until doubled in size.

Step No 9

Place the loaf tin in a preheated oven at 220°C fan, and then turn the oven down to 200°C fan. Bake for 10 minutes.

Then turn down the temperature again to 180°C fan.  Bake for a further 24 minutes or until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath.

Leave to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Step No 10

Slice the bread and serve.
