SAMOSA A SAVOURY SNACK

I sincerely hope you would share the same passion as me!

Samosa is a popular savoury snack.  Known for its triangular shape.

A perfect balance of crispiness on the outside, with warm and delicious filling inside.

Filled with meat or vegetables; in actual fact just about anything your heart desires.

They are generally fried.  However, if you prefer, sprinkle with some oil and bake in an oven.

Ingredients
  • 1kg Beef Mince
  • 30gm Ginger Puree
  • 20gm Garlic Puree
  • 40gm Ground Mixed Spices
  • 15gm Salt
  • 1 Lemon Juice (30ml)

  • Oil
Step No 1

Add a dash of oil to a hot pan followed by beef mince, lemon juice, ginger and garlic puree.

Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.  Sprinkle in ground mixed spices and season with some salt.  Cook for another 6 to 10 minutes to ensure all of the liquid has evaporated.

Take off the heat and set aside.

Step No 2

Peel and boil the potatoes.

Then mash to a smooth texture.

Step No 3

Transfer them to the meat.

Mix the mash and meat together until evenly distributed.

Step No 4

For extra flavour add in chopped fresh chillies, chopped shallots and chopped fresh coriander.

Step No 5

Mix well until all the ingredients are combined together.

Step No 6

Make a flour paste using:

  • 3 Tablespoon Plain Flour
  • 6-7 Tablespoon Still Water
Step No 7

In a bowl add the flour and water, then mix together until well combined.

Stir to a thick, smooth and batter-like paste, with no lumps.

Step No 9

Using a rectangle pastry sheet fold into a triangle shape and spread flour paste liberally where necessary.

Fill the pocket with a spoonful of the meat mixture.

Press the pastry together to seal the pocket securely.

Step No 10

And you have a perfect triangle!

Step No 11

Repeat the process with the remaining of the sheets.

Step No 12

Fry the samosas on a medium heat until golden brown on both sides.

Alternatively mist each triangle with some oil.

Then bake in a preheated oven at 180°C/Fan.

Cook for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown.
