Westminster, London

I sincerely hope you would share the same passion as me!

Westminster, London Architecture Painting

Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, also known as the Palace of Westminster, are among London’s most famous landmarks, the city’s oldest royal palace, and a World Heritage site.

During its lifetime, it has been a royal residence, a law court and even a prison for menacing member of Parliament. Today, the Houses of Parliament is the beating heart of the British Government.

Big Ben is probably the world’s most famous clock.  Iconic silhouette is instantly recognisable and is one of the most Instagrammed landmarks on the planet.  The chimes of Big Ben were first broadcast by the BBC on 31st December 1923, a tradition that continues to this day.

Houses of Parliament – the Palace lies on the north bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster, in central London

Westminster Bridge – is a road-and-foot-traffic bridge over the River Thames in London. The bridge is painted predominantly green, the same colour as the leather seats in the House of Commons.

Portcullis House is a modern abstract windows on the building face of Portcullis House, an office building in Westminster, London.  Was commissioned in 1992 and opened in 2001 to provide offices for 213 members of parliament and their staff.

I started this painting during the second coronavirus lockdown.  The inspiration behind this was my love for London architecture and its history.
