PUNJABI SAVOURY CRACKERS

These Crackers are crunchy and snappy.

Made with flour, water, coarse peppercorns and seasoning.

Perfect for snacking.  Delicious served alongside a cheeseboard or with dips.

Ingredients To Make 40 - 50 Crackers
  • 800gm Plain Flour

  • 50ml Oil

  • 15gm Salt
  • 5gm Coarse Peppercorns

  • 450ml Plain Water

  • Extra Oil for Frying

Step No 1

Add the flour in a mixing bowl.

Pour some oil, sprinkle salt and coarse peppercorns.

Finally pour in the water. 

Step No 2

Using a mixer with a dough hook, incorporate all the ingredients together. 

Knead into a firm dough.

Step No 3

Tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 4 portions.

Then shape each portion into a ball.

Step No 4

With a rolling pin flatten each ball very thinly into a circular shape.

Step No 5

Using a 3” round metal cutter push straight down through the dough to cut into discs.

Step No 6

Perforate each disc with a fork, several times, to prevent from puffing up when frying.

Clear all the trimmings around the cut discs and reroll the dough.

Step No 7

Heat some oil in a pan and deep fry 5 to 6 discs at a time.

Step No 8

Fry until golden brown on both sides.

Transfer onto a plate, lined with kitchen roll to absorb excess oil.

Step No 9

Allow to cool.

Crackers are crunchy and snappy.

Step No 10

A delightful snack with a cup of tea.

Delicious when accompanied with cheese.
